Resident Spotlight – Eileen O’Malley’s Journey to Monmouth Crossing
By CentraState Health | October 30, 2024

Eileen O'Malley’s story is one rich in family heritage and resilience. Born to Italian immigrant parents, Eileen grew up with four siblings in Jersey City, where her father worked his way from barber to City Hall employee. Through him, she landed a job as a secretary at Kellex Corporation, later realizing it was part of the Manhattan Project during WWII.

After marrying Vincent, a WWII Navy veteran, they raised two children, Patty and Vinny, and are now blessed with two granddaughters and three great-granddaughters.

Recently, Eileen had been living with her daughter, Patty, but as time went on, they both realized that it wasn’t the safest option. The home’s layout led to a few falls and close calls, so Eileen decided it was time for a change. After a “test drive” at Monmouth Crossing, she happily chose to make it her new home. Now she enjoys weekly hair appointments, musical performances, and shared meals with friends.

Eileen continues to visit her daughter every Wednesday, where they enjoy pizza, mocktails, and time with Lexi the golden retriever and three cats. Recently celebrating her 99th birthday, Eileen is happily settled, and Patty finds comfort knowing Eileen has both independence and support nearby.
